Dear future me, If you are reading this, then somehow a whole year has passed. First of all… I am so proud of you. I’m actually so proud of myself for even starting this website and writing an email to my future self. It might seem like a small thing, but I know that one day I’ll read this and remember exactly who I was at this moment, what I wanted, what I was afraid of, and what I dreamed about. Right now, I am so happy that I got into Gymnasium and started my Abitur in Germany. I know how difficult this can be, especially because I’m studying in a system that hasn’t always been easy for me. So please, future me, I hope you are enjoying it. I hope you are studying, getting good grades, learning new things, and most importantly, actually living your life while doing it. I hope you made friends. I hope you laughed a lot. I hope you had stupid, funny moments that you’ll never forget. I hope school isn’t only about grades anymore, but also about experiences. And please, don’t underestimate yourself. You have done so many things that you once thought were difficult. You keep learning languages, you keep trying new things, you keep dreaming bigger, and you keep finding your own path. Don’t suddenly forget all of that just because something became difficult. Keep going. I also really want to know about the dubbing. Did you finally start? Did you actually get yourself into the dubbing/voice-over world? Did you get your first job? Did someone actually pay you for your voice? 😭 And if you did… HOW MUCH DO YOU MAKE?! And if you didn’t start yet, then why not? When are you going to do it? Because you know how important this is to me. I didn’t just randomly spend money on a microphone, headphones and a whole little studio because I was bored. I genuinely care about this. I want to know what my voice can become if I actually work on it. So please don’t abandon that dream. Maybe by the time you’re reading this, you’re already recording things professionally. Maybe you’re making money from it. Maybe you’re still learning. Maybe you discovered that you want something completely different. Whatever happened, I hope you tried. And I hope you still remember that you are a very unique person. Not because you’re perfect. You’re definitely not. 😭 But because you are YOU. You have your own way of thinking, your own interests, your own weird little obsessions, your own dreams, your own sense of humor, your own way of getting excited about things. Don’t lose that trying to become what other people expect you to be. I hope you are still curious. I hope you’re still learning languages. I hope you’re still listening to music, discovering new things, watching the shows you love, creating things, and getting excited about random topics at 2 a.m. I hope you’re still dreaming about becoming independent and building a life that actually feels like yours. And I hope you are kinder to yourself. Please remember how hard you worked to get here. You started this chapter as a girl who was still figuring out so many things. You didn’t have everything planned. You didn’t know exactly where you would end up. But you kept moving anyway. So keep moving. If school is difficult, breathe. If your grades aren’t perfect, breathe. If you feel behind, breathe. If everyone else seems to know what they’re doing, remember that most people are figuring it out too. You don’t have to have your entire life planned at 17, 18, 19, or even 20. Just keep following your path. I hope when you read this, you can look at yourself and say: “Yeah. I made it through that year.” And maybe you’re even proud of the person who wrote this email. Because she was trying. She was dreaming. She was scared sometimes. She overthought everything sometimes. 😭 But she kept going. So, future me, wherever you are right now, I love you. I hope you are happy. I hope you’re healthy. I hope you’re surrounded by people who genuinely appreciate you. I hope you have beautiful memories from this year. I hope you have good grades, good friends, good experiences, and maybe even your first real dubbing job. And if life didn’t go exactly as planned, that’s okay too. Just don’t stop. Don’t give up on yourself. Don’t make yourself smaller. Don’t forget your dreams. And don’t ever underestimate the girl who wrote this email. She believed that you could become something great.
